Supply of sectionables bars and pneumatic flexible couplings, overhaul of the LAF buffing, drawgear and couplers and removal and installation on the site of Eurotunnel

Eurotunnel is a partnership between the 2 Companies France Manche and The Channel Tunnel Group

The shock and the drive has for function to insure the transmission of the efforts of drive and/or expulsion.
The operation consists in:
a) the replacement of 59 LAF permanent blocks into divisible bars to consitute coupons of 4 vehicles in order to put in service the 15th freight shuttle.
b) The overhaul of 637 sets(groups) shocks and drive and coupler by bringing it improvements
The scope is divised into 4 lots:
1) supply of bars:
- 4 prototype bars (fixed part)
- 59 modified bars fitted withe friction rings after validation of the prototype (fixed part)
- 220 modified bars (optional part) over the period 2016 to 2018
- design and supply of 30 pneumatic pipe supports and brake pipe flexibles (fixed part)
- design and supply of 30 fastening devices for use during decoupling
2) supply of pneumatic flexible couplings for Arbel coupling systems (fixed part)
- supply of 239 main reservoir pipe (CP) flexible couplings and 239 brake pipe (CG) flexible couplings (less 30 prototypes of each other)
- design and supply of 118 main reservoir pipe (CP) automatic connection half-couplings and 118 brake pipe (CG) automatic connection
3) Overhaul of the laf buffing, drawgear and couplers (16 prototytpes + 614 units)
a) Design a new serial buffer or propose an existing system. The proposed shock absorber will need to be mounted on the coupling link. The supplier will propose some improvements on the system (for example: rings...)
b) Tests : the supplier will propose a methodology for tests to be carried out to check compliance with the original values
c) Non destructive testing by ultrasound inspection on 64 coupling links over a period of 3 years
d) grit blasting and painting on 64 coupling links
4) Works on Eurotunnel site, building F45 (Coquelles, in France) over a period of 3 years
- Dismantling/remantling of bars,
- Dismantling/remantling of shock absorbers (about 591 units)
One or more lots can be attributed to one or more different suppliers. All quantities are approximative and are not definitive (just for information).
