As part of the public-interest mission with which it has been tasked by the public authorities, IFPEN focuses its efforts on bringing solutions to the challenges facing society and industry in terms of energy and the climate, to support the ecological transition.

IFPEN has a strong expertise in the field of biocatalyst and bioprocesses development with experience dating back from the 80’s. IFPEN is currently developing a novel fermentative process for Green Chemistry applications. The crucial fermentation stage is conducted in an innovative and unconventional way by several aspects and is today ready for scale-up after years of laboratory development. The aim of the scale-up is to successfully prove the fermentation performances at pilot-scale. IFPEN is therefore looking for an external provider to conduct a pilot-scale experiment. The outlines of the required technical features are:

- A fermenter with a working volume from 100L to 500 Litres

- Continuous operation of this fermenter during several weeks

- Anaerobic and sterile operation (sterilization of the fermenter and equipments at start-up and in continuous for the feed)

- A maximal dilution rate of 0,25h-1

- A propagation line adapted to realize seeding at 10%vol

- Chromatography analytical tools (gaz and liquid) to analyze sugars, alcohols, acids (analytical method provided by IFPEN)
