Modernization of research vessel Thalassa
R/V Thalassa is a 75 meters oceanographic vessel dedicated to research in fishery. The vessel Thalassa has been built in 1995 and is now in her mid-life. The purpose of the Tender is the selection of a shipyard in charge of the following operations:
— Replace obsolete scientific equipment by up-to-date scientific equipment,
— Add a marine geoscience function,
— Replace gensets and PMS,
— Assure the remedial and curative maintenance at mid-life of the vessel,
— Provide a reliable and efficient platform appropriate to the coming 20 years of marine science.
This modernization shall not modify the current capabilities of the vessel (especially fisheries research capabilities).
Expected scope of supply by the shipyard:
— Integrate acoustic equipment, in a gondola which will be designed and built for fitting,
— New equipment's bought and supplied by Ifremer (multi-beam echo sounders, sub-bottom profiler, ultra short baseline),
— Existing equipment's (single beam echos sounders and acoustic Doppler current profiler) which will be supplied by Ifremer,
— Sea chests,
— Fit a new deck knuckle crane (supplied by Ifremer),
— Fit a new specific crane (supplied by Ifremer) for CTD and coring system,
— Fit a new propulsion motor drive (supplied Ifremer),
— Refit some specific rooms,
— Replace the 4 diesel generators by new ones (bought and supplied by Ifremer),
— Refit the power management system, the alarm and monitoring system, the fire station,
— Replace regulated current units,
— Several mechanical, piping, metal sheet, electrical, air-conditioning, painting works,
— Dry-dock of the vessel.
These works should be realized during summer 2017, between begging of June to end of August. All equipment's to be supplied by Ifremer shall be available no later than 1.6.2017.
