The machine is designed for round-the-clock operation, 7 days a week.
A wheel-set to be re-profiled is loaded onto lathe No 1 aligned to a precision of +/- 100 mm.
A centring system brings the wheel-set into line with the axis of lathe No 1.
The wheelbase between two wheel-sets can be adjusted from 1 700 to 2 900 mm between the two lathes by means of a slide system installed in the same pit.
