Operations of rail replacement on Eurotunnel railway network
Operations of replacement of rail UIC 60 kg on Eurotunnel railway network place of works: both sites - French and English railways terminals works consist to replace the rails and the fastenings 5360 meters of rail need to be replaced (3280 m on UK site, 2080 m on FR site) work planning: works are planned in september and october (year 2011).
The main tracks at the Concession are fitted with rails weighing 60 kg/m of various lengths.
Design of the track: NABLA flexible fastenings (rail clips or elastic clips depending on the type of sleeper (wooden for a radius of less than 1000 m – VAX U41 concrete bi-block – VAX U31 concrete bi-block sleepers)).
Fluted soleplates under the rail 4.5 mm or 9 mm in depth (TBA – TB).
— Switches and crossings in France with a different tangent: Tg 0.11 – 0.085 – 0.0654 – 0.0476 – 0.0336 – 0.0372,
— Switches and crossings in UK with a different tangent: TG UD 10.75 – UF 18.5 – UE 15 – SUG 21 – 0.0336.
Services to be provided by the contractor:
— planning and logistics,
— defining inter-track spaces on site for lengths > 50 m for replacement rails,
— unloading of rails,
— removal of small equipment,
— removal of rails,
— cleaning of sleeper surfaces,
— laying of new rails and soleplates,
— fitting of fastenings,
— welding of rails and “martelage”,
— removal of materials,
— de-scaling of the rail,
— replacement of defective fastenings,
— making good of the profile of the ballast,
— releasing of cwr stresses,
— incorporation of switches and crossings,
— drawings and technical documents.
